At LBC, we believe that THE great mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. This conviction comes from Jesus' last words to his disciples before he ascended into heaven.
And Jesus came and said to them,
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Put simply, a disciple is someone who has made it their life's goal to be like their master. They want to think like, talk like, live like, and love like their master. So, also, the goal of every Christian should be to increasingly think like, talk like, live like, and love like Jesus and to always be seeking to bring others into a similar relationship with Jesus.
Discipleship can happen in a number of ways, but one of the most effective is when two or men or women get together and seek to intentionally build each other up in Christ. That's why we are excited to start our "316 Ministry" (from Colossians 3:16) which exists to encourage and instruct men and women on how to intentionally help other's grow in Christ.
